Renowned for its long sunny days, most of South Africa does experience some rainfall during the summer months of December through February, when average temperatures reach 23ºC. The exception is the Western Cape, which has winter rainfall. High-lying areas of the interior can be chilly during the winter months of June through to August, with July being the wettest month with an average of 10cm of rain.
